Depression and Low Mood

  • Perhaps you wake up already tired, before the day has even begun.
  • Perhaps the things you used to enjoy feel flat, or too much effort.
  • Perhaps you are getting through each day, but you don’t feel like you.

You are not lazy and you are not failing.
Your brain has moved into a protective mode, and it can move out of it again.

Understanding what is happening in your brain

When life feels too much for too long, your stress bucket fills up.

Your survival brain steps in to protect you, and one of the ways it does that is to make you withdraw. It slows you down, pulls you inwards, and keeps you close to home.

At the same time, your brain starts to see the world through a negative filter. The more you worry or go over things, the fuller your bucket gets. It can feel like a cycle that is hard to break.

When we feel low, our brain is often running short on its feel-good chemicals, the ones that help us feel calm, motivated and able to cope. Your brain can produce more of them naturally, and small, simple changes can make a real difference.

How Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works at a pace that feels right for you. Rather than going over what went wrong, we focus on where you would like to be and the small, achievable steps that move you towards it.

Each session combines talking therapy with relaxing hypnosis. This helps empty your stress bucket, so your thinking brain can come back online and you can see options again.

It can help with:

  • Feeling flat, numb or low
  • Lack of motivation or energy
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Negative thinking and self-criticism
  • Feeling stuck or hopeless about the future
  • Low mood linked to stress, grief, menopause or life changes

Many clients notice:

  • Feeling calmer and more at peace
  • Sleeping better
  • More confidence and self-belief
  • Enjoying life again

What to expect

Your FREE phone call: a gentle 15-minute chat about what is happening for you and whether this approach feels right.

Your Initial Consultation: no hypnosis takes place. I explain what is happening in your brain when your mood is low, and we talk about what you would like to change.

Your sessions: each one is part talking, part hypnosis. We notice what has gone well, however small, and set achievable steps for the week ahead. Then you relax while your brain processes the changes.

Between sessions: you receive a relaxation MP3 and free access to A Peaceful Path App, with journaling prompts, a gratitude practice and a positive action tracker to help you get your daily DOSE of feel-good brain chemicals.
